Afternoon Tea

The Royal Afternoon Tea served in the Amstel Lounge is a long-standing tradition. Guests of the afternoon tea can be assured of a series of culinary delights composed of a selection of exquisite teas accompanied by four courses starting with savoury and ending with sweet. All the savouries and sweets are homemade by our in-house patissier and are paired with a tea that complements the taste of each bite.

The Royal Afternoon Tea is served daily from 12:30 p.m. to 02:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 06:00 p.m.

Area Map

InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam is located in the centre of Amsterdam, with easy access to the ring road A10 and within walking distance of Amsterdam's major attractions. The Central Station of Amsterdam is located two stops away by public transport or 10 minutes by taxi. Station Weesperplein is only 300m away from the hotel and gives access to the underground and tram system. The restaurant is situated along the banks of the Amstel river and has its own quay for guests that arrive with a boat.

Bar

A Bar brings together all the elements that make Amsterdam so special. A beautiful, contemporary cocktail bar, the kind of which can only be found in in world-class Grande Dame hotels, such as the Amstel Hotel. The drinks menu of A Bar is full of remarkable cocktails based on local liqueurs and spirits and ingredients prepared in our own kitchens. Barrel-aged cocktails are another rediscovery. Cocktails ripened in in oak vats were all the rage in the roaring twenties, an example of which, the Negroni, is the ultimate cocktail for a jazzy Sunday afternoon on the A Bar terrace. Other drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are also available.

A Bar is open from Monday until Friday from 05.00 p.m. until 01.00 a.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 00.00 p.m. until 01:00 a.m.

Boat Excursions

Our three boats, moored alongside the hotel, are hundred-year-old classic saloon boats. They were lovingly restored and have been fully equipped with modern comforts. They run solely on electricity. The boats are perfect for business or festive tours through Amsterdam's network of canals to enjoy panoramic views of everything the city has to offer. The Classic Boat Tours crew are highly experienced and professional. They know their boats and the highlights of the city and can cater for all tastes in food. They can help you in a wide range of languages.

Hair Salon

Opposite to the entrance of the hotel, on the other side of the Professor Tulpplein, you can find Angelina Martin's hair salon, for both women and men. Angelina Martin has years of experience. From an early age she found her passion for hair. After learning the profession of hair dresser she moved to Amsterdam where she worked for Rob Peetoom. After a while Angelina took the opportunity to open her own hair salon. The philosophy of Angelina is to create a joyful experience. She aims to bring glamour to life while offering personal care that makes you feel reassured and lets you feel revived after a visit. In addition to hairstyling the salon offers manicure services so after a visit at Angelina Martin you will leave the salon with a perfect haircut and manicured nails.

Lounge Area

With its classic interior, its location in the heart of the hotel and its wonderful views the Amstel Lounge has a long history as the hotel's place to meet. The deep blue walls complement the stunning crystal chandeliers and create a calm atmosphere, a home to enjoy a cup of coffee, enjoy a glass of wine or the delightful Royal Afternoon Tea.

The Lounge is open from Monday until Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Meeting & Conference Facilities

InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam has 522 m2 of state-of-the-art event facilities, distributed over seven meeting rooms, with a capacity for up to 350 guests. The elegant and traditional character of the seven rooms, all situated on the ground floor, makes the hotel equally suitable for business occasions and unforgettable, private events. All rooms have natural light and most offer a beautiful view over the river Amstel. Our terraces provide further possibilities for events held during the summer months.

Non-Smoking Rooms and Suites

The Amstel Hotel's executive rooms and suites are very spacious, with room sizes that rank amongst the largest in Amsterdam. Excellent beds ensure a good night's rest. The sounds of the city are kept to a faint murmur, so that even here, in the middle of the city, you can enjoy a peaceful night. All 55 guestrooms and 24 suites are furnished with authentic furniture, rich pleated curtains and handmade Delft porcelain. The spacious marble bathrooms are equipped with all creature comforts. There is a separate toilet and a separate shower room with a large, luxurious rainfall shower.

Outdoor Terrace

In fine weather, why not lunch or dine on one of the Amstel's terraces? The A bar's terrace has two comfortable lounge sofas overlooking the river where you can nestle down from afternoon until late in the evening and savour the experience with a drink or a snack. The terrace's heaters add further comfort. Our Health and Fitness club also has a private terrace for hotel guests with elegant sun loungers.

Restaurant

Dine in style by the river in restaurant La Rive. Culinary excellence and extraordinary hospitality set restaurant La Rive in a class of its own. Under the inspired leadership of Executive Chef Rogér Rassin and Maître Ronald Opten, every guest is assured of a unique experience. Restaurant La Rive serves French-Mediterranean cuisine with seasonal products in an innovative way. The exceptional wine expertise of our sommeliers contributes to perfect combinations and ensures that your dining experience becomes a truly memorable one.

Restaurant La Rive is open from Monday until Sunday from 06:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The Amstel Brasserie will surprise you with its contemporary cuisine, informal charm and breathtaking views over the Amstel river. The menu is seasonal with simple, brasserie-style dishes. It's the ideal venue for a relaxed lunch, dinner or for a drink. The Amstel Brasserie has a relaxed atmosphere, the seating is level with the river Amstel.

Restaurant Brasserie is open from Monday until Sunday from 12.00 p.m - 00:00 a.m. From Monday until Saturday, the kitchen is open until 22:00 p.m. On Sundays, the kitchen is open until 21:30 p.m.

Wine Room

Next to restaurant La Rive is the Wine Room, thousands of bottles of the world's finest wines are stored here. Our sommeliers like to joke that the Wine Room has the most expensive 'wallpaper' in the hotel. This gives the room its inspiring character. The oak table in the middle of this liquid treasure is the perfect place for a private breakfast, lunch or dinner for two to sixteen people. Here you can enjoy all the culinary surprises and hospitality of La Rive. You can close the doors for complete privacy or leave them open if you want to experience the ambiance of the restaurant. In the Wine Room we serve the full menu selection of La Rive and for larger parties we can create a custom menu with you.
