1609 Bar and Restaurant

1609 takes its name from the year that the Sea Venture shipwrecked on Bermuda’s shores and the first colony was born. We celebrate that sea-going spirit in our menu, which stars fresh local catch prepared in a fusion of island and Latin flavors. Enjoy fresh and vibrant ceviche sashimi, golden fried shrimp, a wide selection of tacos and much more.

We’ve also put together a spirited cocktail menu featuring classic Bermuda specialties such as Rum Swizzle and Dark & Stormy. You’ll also find plenty of island and southwestern flavors in our Pineapple Crush, and Berry Red and Tropical White Wine pitchers of Sangria. Once you’ve chosen your favorite, the scene is set for a perfect evening spent watching the sun go down over Hamilton Harbour.

Intrepid Steak, Seafood & Raw Bar

Intrepid is inspired by one of the hotel’s most prominent guests: Sir William Stephenson. The British intelligence agent, code name Intrepid, headed the Allied Forces’ Atlantic censorship station based out of the Hamilton Princess during the Second World War. Stephenson was close friends to world renowned author; Sir Ian Fleming – who credited Stephenson as the ‘real thing’ when asked about his inspiration behind his famous spy, James Bond.

Exclusively serving dinner, Intrepid is an upscale steak, seafood and raw bar restaurant, offering a contemporary twist on the classic American grill for a refined dining experience. The restaurant is spearheaded by the hotel’s new Executive Chef de Cuisine, Antwan Ellis.

Intrepid Steak, Seafood & Raw Bar occupies the flagship restaurant space in the hotel’s Gazebo Wing, offering a refined steakhouse atmosphere with panoramic harbor views and stylish floor to ceiling Art Deco elegant décor. Art aficionados will appreciate the new additions to the hotel’s collection including a larger-than-life canvas original by KAWS titled The Great Below, overlooking the revamped private dining room space.

Steak is at the heart of the new menu and meat lovers can avail themselves of prime cuts of beef, including select steak cuts expertly dry-aged by Niman Ranch and Debragga & Spitler in New Jersey, while seafood fans will enjoy the temaki sushi station and raw bar which specializes in oysters, caviar and freshly caught local fish. Menu highlights include Lump Crab Cake with Cajun Remoulade; the Intrepid Maki Roll with Lobster, Shrimp Tempura, Lemon Butter; Oysters Rockefeller and, to finish, the Goldeneye Baked Apple Galette.

For those looking to enjoy an aperitif before their meal or a nightcap at the end of the day, a new cocktail menu and wine list has been developed for the restaurant, including soon-to-be classics such as the Princess 75 with The Botanist Gin, Guava, Fresh Lemon, Moët Chandon Rosé and the Intrepid Martini with Absolut Elyx Vodka, Lemon Peppercorn Lillet, Castelvetrano Olive – served ‘Shaken Not Stirred’.

Kids under 5 eat free (when they’re an in-house guest accompanied by an adult in-house guest).

The Duchess Café and Gelateria

Whether you have plans to explore the island or have back-to-back meetings, take a moment to savor a cup of delicious Chemex slow pour coffee or one of our Lot 35 teas as you prepare for the day ahead. Opening at 7am every morning, a stop at The Duchess for a hot drink and a freshly baked pastry is the perfect way to start your day on the right foot.

If you’re looking to grab-and-go, look no further. Breakfast and lunch, made fresh each day, will be available for dining in or pre-packaged for those on the run. Example offerings include savory breakfast sandwiches, Italian Prosciutto Baguette, Pressed Pulled Chicken Focaccia, Low Carb Grilled Salmon Salad and much more. You can also stock up on delicious snacks and soft drinks so you have everything you need for a busy day.

If you have time to spare, why not pull up one of the retro chairs and enjoy a leisurely coffee, such as a signature NitroBrew, and a sweet treat in the stylish space and take in the incredible artwork. The Duchess boasts a selection of delicious homemade gelatos and creative milkshakes which are sure to impress the whole family and a great way to cool from the Bermuda sunshine.

The daughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Louise, was one of the pioneers of Bermuda’s tourism, wintering on the island and setting a trend that continues today. Her patronage of the arts has made her a fitting namesake for the hotel and for The Duchess, which prides itself on its style and modern art collection.

Get settled on your comfortable lounger, surrounded by the serene pink sands and turquoise waters of the exclusive Princess Beach Club. There’s a long day of oceanside relaxation ahead, and you won’t need to leave this private, sheltered cove for anything.

Refresh yourself with a chilled drink from our thoughtfully curated cocktail menu. The well-loved Bermuda favorites are all there: choose a Rum Swizzle or Dark and Stormy for an authentic taste of the island spirit. Discover something new with a Passion Mojito, Hand-Shaken Bartenders Colada, or Tropical White Sangria. You’ll also find a lovely selection of wine and champagne by the glass.
