DESTINATION TREASURES

THE NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM was established in 2009 and is named to be one of the highest-profile cultural projects undertaken in Europe for the last decade. Visit its 226.000 sq. meters space, and become proudly part of the city’s greatest and most historic museum.

THE ANCIENT AGORA is placed right inside the renowned Stoa of Attalos, at the foot of the Acropolis. The spiritual sense of the place where ancient Athenians used to have their every day commercial and social activities will fill you up with a deep desire of buying rare artefacts and miniature models of how the Acropolis and the Agora looked like during ancient times.

PLAKA is a pleasant walkway located on the north slope of the Acropolis. Some of the most renowned and worth-visiting sights are met while strolling under the sunny cobblestone of “Dionusiou Areopagitou”.  One of them would be the well-know Tower of the Winds. This enchanting neighborhood embraces archeological sites nestled next to small ouzerias and tavernas, colourful flower stands and artisan shops for an authentic flavor of local Athens.

THISSION; one of the most intact temples of ancient Greece, is located at one end of the Ancient Agora. First built in 450 BC, the Pnyx, the hill on the west side of the Acropolis, was the meeting and debating venue for the Athenians. Nowadays, Thission is one of the priority choices for an evening walk along its cobblestones and numerous elegant restaurants & bars that set the scene for the perfect city experience.

THE MONASTIRAKI FLEA MARKET is the perfect place to be upon the beginning of a bright Sunday morning. Here, you will be thrilled to walk through colourful shops and find a wide selection of souvenirs and traditional relics to take back home.

ZAPPEION is built between the temple of Olympian Zeus - the largest ancient temple in Greece which was dedicated to the Olympian god Zeus and was being built since the 6th century until 700 years later- and The National Gardens. The Zappeion was once the first building in the world to be constructed in order to serve Olympic needs and is today, one of the most beautiful walks in the heart of Athens.

LYCABETTUS HILL is located approximately 300 meters high. This favourite spot among locals and visitors alike boasts superb views and a sense of tranquility amidst the sprawling Athenian landscape. Intrepid travellers may ascend the hill on foot. The funicular is an easier alternative.

VOUKOURESTIOU STREET; after your morning walks through historic treasure troves enjoy an afternoon visit to the shopping district where the most elegant international brands are being hosted.
Shopping hours:
•    Monday, Wednesday and Saturday: 9am – 3pm*,
•    Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 9am – 9pm.
