Summer Bike Rides   On a sunny day, ride around beautiful Stanley Park. Pack a picnic lunch of fruits, cheese and of course, a fine bottle of wine. Don't forget the corkscrew! Stanley Park is one of the largest civic parks in North America and is jewel for residents and visitors alike. The Vancouver Aquarium located in the park is a must-see as is the popular activity of walking/rollerblading/biking the famous "seawall" - a pedestrian only route following the outline of the entire Stanley Park.   The Film Scene   Known as Hollywood North, it's not unlikely to spot the cast of Twilight wandering around Gastown, Halle Berry sitting next to you at the spa or Hugh Jackman working out on the treadmill next to yours. Paparazzi not included.   Gastown   Known as a popular tourist destination, the cobblestone walkways of Gastown are also home to the city's hipsters - independent boutiques, hip restaurants and nightclubs make this the spot for local trendsetters.   Riding the Slopes   During the winter months, carve down the slopes of Whistler, Cypress Mountain or Seymour Mountain on your skis or snowboard. Finish off with a cup of warm cocoa complete with marshmallows.   Hockey Culture   Hockey isn't just a pastime - it's a culture. Find a seat at the local watering hole, or better yet, get tickets to a game at Rogers Arena and cheer on the home team, the Vancouver Canucks.   Restaurants   Known for our multiculturalism, your tongue will be delighted by the tastes of the city. Spend an afternoon in India, be whisked away for a night in Paris or escape for a late night trip to China.   Dance Clubs   Put on your party shoes. For those seeking even more Japanese decadence, try Izakaya - Japanese tapas food.   The Beach   Pack the sunnies and hit up the beaches of English Bay, Kitsilano and Ambleside. Gastown

The birthplace of Vancouver, Gastown is the oldest part of the city and is still lined with cobblestone streets and features an authentic steam clock, shopping and a wide selection of cafes and restaurants.

Grouse Mountain

Located 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver, this year round destination offers a skyride tram which, on a clear day, looks back onto the extraordinary beauty of Vancouver. Enjoy downhill skiing, snowshoeing and sleigh rides in the winter or join an interpretive hike, a lumberjack competition, or try paragliding in the summer.

Granville Island

The Island also boasts many restaurants, marinas and its own brewery, and offers great areas to sit and watch all the action in the harbour, or admire views across False Creek.

Chinatown

A bustling traditional Chinatown lies just east of the downtown core. Stop in at one of the many restaurants for a delicious dim sum lunch and then enjoy shopping at the various markets before visiting the tranquil Dr. Sun Yat Sen Gardens. See how 52 master craftsmen utilized treasured natural materials to create this unique expression of Chinese culture. This garden is the first of its kind on the North American continent.

Vancouver Aquarium

Visit Canada's largest aquarium and winner of Attractions Canada's 'B.C.'s Best International Attraction'.

Vancouver Art Gallery

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Visitors are invited to experience a toe-tingling trip 25 stories above the Capilano Canyon. The nature park also offers a large selection of colorful Totem Poles and Native Indian carvers continue this centuries-old tradition on a daily basis for visitors to watch. New in the park is the Tree Tops Adventure, a series of walkways high up in the trees connected by rope bridges.

Science World

Science World is an interactive science centre suitable for the entire family. Exhibits explore themes such as physics and British Columbia's natural history. The Kid's Space Gallery will be a favourite with the younger children.

Looking to Grab some Local Goodies During your stay in Vancouver?

Located on the 3rd floor of the hotel on the south-facing terrace and basking in full sun, rests a 2,100 square foot irrigated garden introduced in 1995, which became one of Vancouver’s first green roofs. Reflecting Fairmont Waterfront’s sustainable hotel philosophy, the garden now plays home to several varieties of herbs, vegetables, fruits and edible blossoms, as well as a pollinator hotel for solitary bees and over 10 different species of local birds. No herbicides or pesticides are used.

Our Chef uses the bounty from the garden daily in our restaurant's menus, and to create culinary masterpieces in the kitchen. Herbs include: rosemary, lavender, basil, bay leaves and tarragon. Fruit and Vegetables include: garlic, apples, rainbow chard, kale, leeks, beans, tomatoes, lettuces, carrots, peppers, green onion, strawberries, figs, grapes, pumpkin. We even harvest a small patch of hay that is used to smoke chicken in-house.
