Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

66 Knightsbridge
London, SW1X 7LA
England

OFFER ID H104

Overview Accommodations Facilities & Services Dining Guides Directions
Overview

Sitting between glorious Royal Parkland and the buzz of central Knightsbridge, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London is re-imagined and re-invented, offering the essence of timeless heritage coupled with contemporary flair and impeccable service.

As part of the most-extensive multi-million-pound restoration in the hotel's history, internationally-renowned designer Joyce Wang, oversaw the new design of all the rooms, suites and public areas, inspired by the natural beauty of neighboring Hyde Park and the glamour of the 20th century Golden Age of travel. The two new penthouses featuring garden terraces off the living room and master bedroom, offer unparalleled views of the royal park and across the London skyline and will be the highlight of the 181 guest rooms.

The Spa by Mandarin Oriental London has been redesigned and is one of the best in the city. Guests can escape to the 17m swimming pool, extensive fitness room or relax in one of 13 treatment and beauty rooms or the new spacious Oriental Suite featuring two massage beds and a Rasul water temple.

For those seeking a very special and unique dining experience, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is a place where dining is theatre. Dinner is one of the world's most celebrated restaurants and holds the prestigious accolade of two Michelin stars. More casual diners are welcomed to Bar Boulud, the only London restaurant of Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud. This stylish bistro and wine bar specialises in seasonal French cooking.

Discover a quintessentially British experience by joining us for traditional afternoon tea at The Rosebery.

Coveted Shopping
Just steps outside the hotel entrance, you have the most tempting shopping options:  Harvey Nichols, Harrod's and the chic boutiques of Sloane Street.

London by foot
See London at its best with a riverside walk alongside the South Bank. You’ll see the old London (the Houses of Parliament, Tower of London and Tower Bridge, St Paul’s, Southwark Cathedral and Shakespeare’s Globe) as well as the National Theatre, London Eye and the impressive Tate Modern and Millennium Bridge.

Boating in The Royal Park
The Serpentine (lake) is just minutes away from the hotel in Hyde Park.  Have the hotel arrange a catered picnic basket to enjoy on a boat for two, or perhaps a family celebratory cocktail for up to 30 people on the large boat.  Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London also offers off-site catering for larger events and has the established relationships with the Royal Family and British Government to get access to host events in palaces, museums and other notable sites.

Apsley House - home of the Duke of Wellington
Apsley House was the Duke of Wellington’s London home after his dazzling military career ended (he retired after defeating Napoleon at Waterloo). Now a museum, this impressive residence is packed with ‘gifts’ from grateful heads of state and 200 paintings, originally from the Spanish Royal Collection, including works by Goya, Valasquez, Rubens, Corrregio and Brueghel. Oh, and you’ll be greeted by Casanova’s colossal nude statue of Napoleon that dominates the staircase.

British Airways London Eye
At 153 meters high, this is the world’s highest observation wheel, giving passengers a slow moving ‘flight’ with panoramic views of some of London’s most famous landmarks. It has 32 enclosed capsules, each able to carry up to 25 people. It takes just under 30 minutes to complete a gentle and relaxing full turn. Open daily, 9:30am–8pm. Advanced booking required.

Greenwich
To reach Greenwich, we suggest catching a boat from Charing Cross Pier, cruising up the Thames and taking in the historical sights as you go. Greenwich is steeped in maritime history - visit the 17th century Queen’s House, the tea clipper Cutty Sark, Sir Francis Chichester’s yacht Gypsy Moth IV, the Naval College and the Royal Observatory through which Greenwich Meantime passes.

The Beatles and Abbey Road
This tour is great and, better still, it’s a private tour. You will follow in the Fab Four’s footsteps and walk over the famous zebra crossing, be shown around the studios, take a look at Paul and Linda’s old home, visit the Registry Office where they were married, Ringo Starr’s flat, the Apple boutique, Brian Epstein’s offices, Carnaby Street, The Beatle Shop, The Apple Corp. HQ, the place where John met Yoko, amongst others! Advanced booking required.

Cool bars
Kingly Club, Sketch, Zuma, Lab, the LingLing Lounge at Hakkasan and of course, the Mandarin Bar.

Windsor Castle
This is the largest inhabited castle in the world and has been home to English monarchs since 1078 when it was built by William the Conqueror. You can visit the magnificent State Apartments containing a fabulous collections of treasures, including work by Van Dyck, Rembrandt and Rubens. Advance booking required.

Canterbury and Leeds Castle
The best way to get there is by car, driving through the Kent countryside, the Garden of England. You’ll pass through pretty chocolate box villages and see the lush green fields before reaching medieval Canterbury, whose splendid Norman cathedral was the scene of Thomas a Becket’s murder in 1170. Leeds Castle is what you would describe as ‘fairytale’, over 1000 years old and set in the middle of two lakes. Leeds Castle is also known as Lady’s Castle because of the many Queens of England who lived there. Advanced booking required.

Oxford
Dating back to the 11th century, this is England’s oldest university and is just stunning, with its magnificent spires, cloistered colleges, secluded gardens and renowned libraries. Nearby is Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and England’s grandest and most imposing stately home. Set in almost 3,000 acres of spectacular parkland it was built to reward John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough and ancestor of Sir Winston, for his defeat of the French at Blenheim in 1704. Advance booking required.

Brighton, Leonardslee and Hever Castle
Visit the regency seaside resort of Brighton with its famous Royal Pavillion, among the most dazzling and exotically beautiful buildings in the country. Leonardslee Gardens rank among the best, spectacularly located in a natural valley around 6 lakes with glorious year round colour. Hever Castle is 13th century and moated. It was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The unique Italian garden and award-winning Rose and Tudor gardens are among the most beautiful in England. Advance booking required.

Over 1400 officers and men are on parade, together with two hundred horses; over four hundred musicians from ten bands and corps of drums march and play as one. Some 113 words of command are given by the Officer in Command of the Parade. The parade route extends from Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and back again.
