Day 1: Arrive in Accra
Arrive in Accra where you will be met by Goway's local representative and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2: Pottery Class and Traditional African MarketAfter breakfast, you will have the opportunity to dive into the art of pottery with our Traditional Pottery Making Class. Led by skilled artisans, this hands-on workshop introduces you to the ancient craft of shaping clay into beautiful, functional pieces. You will also get to paint your creations afterward, adding your own colourful touch to your masterpiece. End the day's tour at the Arts Center, where participants can sharpen their bargaining skills to shop for goods from Ghana and West Africa in an open-air market. On display, you will see fabrics of different materials, designs, colours and textures to purchase from. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers.

Day 3: Living Heritage Ceremony (Torgorme Village)Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before departing Accra to a beautiful village located on the lower course of the splendid Volta River. You will pay a courtesy call on the chief and elders amidst traditional drumming and dancing by the villagers. The group will participate in a naming ceremony of recognition, where a Ghanaian name is given to participants, and a gift presented as part of celebrating a new identity as a Ghanaian and a member of the local community. After a stop for lunch (on own account), return to Accra. Upon your return, embark on a sightseeing tour of Accra, Ghana's vibrant capital, exploring its key administrative, historical, and commercial districts. Visit the National Museum of Ghana, the country's largest and oldest museum, which showcases Ghana's rich cultural heritage and history. Continue to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where you will learn about the life and legacy of Ghana's first President through visits to his mausoleum, museum, former residence, and the Eternal Flame of African Liberation.

Day 4: Accra - Assin Manso Slave River - Cape CoastAfter breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart to Elmina. Enroute, take a detour and visit the former slave in Assin Manso. Visit the site of "Donkor Nsuo", the former Slave River and market, as well as the final transit point for a large number of enslaved Africans. This is the final resting place for two ancestors whose mortal remains were returned from the USA and Jamaica and re-interred there. Afterwards, continue to Elmina and check into your hotel on arrival.

Day 5: Global Mamas (Culinary Experience & Batik Making)After another delicious breakfast, discover the art and beauty of African batik and get a glimpse into the life of a local artisan as you work side-by-side during this four-hour class. You'll join a Global Mamas' batiker in her workshop to learn the traditional techniques of batik production using wax and dye to create colorful patterns - to make your own one-of-a-kind fabric. Afterwards, take your two yards of handiwork home to sew into a finish product that will always have a special place in your home or wardrobe. Afterwards, explore the fragrant and exotic flavours of West African cuisine in Auntie Esi's kitchen. Esi will introduce you to an array of new tastes and flavours as you learn how to create authentic Ghanaian dishes. Using African cooking techniques, during this workshop you will create traditional dishes like jollof and chicken or fish. After learning the recipes, you will enjoy eating the feast you've helped to prepare.

Day 6: Cape Coast CastleAfter breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin your journey back to Accra. En route, stop at the historic Cape Coast Castle for a guided tour of one of West Africa's most significant landmarks. As you explore the castle's courtyards, dungeons, and passageways, gain a deeper understanding of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and its enduring impact on Africa and the African diaspora. Learn about the complex relationship between European slave traders and local African kingdoms that contributed to this tragic chapter in history. Standing within the dark and cramped dungeons offers a powerful and moving opportunity to reflect on the experiences endured by millions of Africans before their forced journey across the Atlantic. The castle also houses the West African Historical Museum, which provides further insight into the region's history and cultural heritage. Following the tour, continue your drive to Accra. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening on your last night in Ghana as you reflect on your experience with your fellow travellers.
