North Zealand Tour – 7 Hours

Set off on an enjoyable narrated tour to Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød. This elegant Dutch Renaissance structure straddles three small islands and has all the trappings of a fairytale castle, but it was gainfully employed as royal residence and setting for important ceremonial events from the 1600s to the 1850s. It now serves as the National Museum of History and is best known for its outstanding collection of portraits, the largest of its kind in Denmark. Your guided tour begins at the Neptune Fountain and visits the rooms of the King's Wing, the Church, and the impressive Knight's Hall, which boasts an intricate carved wooden ceiling.
Take photos of the Royal Family's summer residence Fredensborg Palace during a brief stop on route.
Heading further north through the picturesque countryside of Northern Zealand, you will find the town of Elsinore. Situated in Elsinore, the magnificent structure Kronborg Castle was chosen by William Shakespeare as the setting for his play, Hamlet. It is a suitably dramatic Renaissance castle, built in 1420 and expanded in the 1500s, situated on the narrow sound between Denmark and Sweden. Kronborg Castle is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site.

Continue back towards Copenhagen along the coastal road. Otherwise known as the Danish Rivera, the coastal road provides a lovely view of the sea between Denmark and Sweden, as well taking you through the fashionable and exclusive residential areas on the outskirts of Copenhagen.

Malmö and Lund – 7 Hours

Malmö
is Sweden’s third-largest city. Here, Scandinavia's tallest building twists its way skyward, gazing down over the vast Öresund bridge – both modern engineering marvels that reflect multicultural Malmö's progressive outlook.
Focusing on the area around Stortorget (the town square) and lively Lilla Torget (the little square) Malmö's Old Town is a gorgeous warren of cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses.
Located about 2.5km northwest of the Old Town, buzzing, bayside Västra Hamnen represents the modern face of Malmö. It's a popular spot to stroll, sip coffee and browse boutiques, but mostly people come to marvel at the Öresund bridge and the Turning Torso
After Malmö we continue to Lund, founded by the Danes around 1000 AD and once the seat of the largest archbishopric in Europe, Lund is the second-oldest city in Sweden. It's also one of its loveliest, surrounded by beech trees and glowing with an impressive architectural legacy. Its magnificent, medieval old town is centered on its strikingly beautiful cathedral. Radiating around it is the country's oldest, most prestigious university (c 1666). Perhaps ironically, the university keeps Lund young, its vibrant, engaged youth driving a lively arts and culinary scene.

Basis: Private Tour.
Duration: 7 hours.
Start/End: City center Hotel or address.
Vehicle: 1st Class.
Guide: English-speaking. Other languages on request.

Copenhagen Walking tour in the pursuit of Hygge – 4 Hours

Hygge is as Danish as pork roast and it goes far in illuminating the Danish soul. In essence hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life in the company of good people. The warm glow of candlelight is also hygge. Friends and family – well that’s hygge too.

In the summertime, hygge is spending time in the sun, over a beer at the pier, a picnic in one of the city parks or just hanging out with good friends in one of Copenhagen’s many picturesque and historical back yards.

This 4-hour walking tour will highlight what hygge is all about. The tour starts by exploring the area around the Latin quarters an around the pedestrian street Strøget.

The Latin Quarter is one of the most entertaining areas of Denmark's capital city, with a young-spirited undertone around the vicinity of Copenhagen University. The Latin Quarter is well known for its hang-out spots, alternative shopping and 17th-century architecture.

Part of Danish hygge is having coffee with friends, so we will pick up a cup of coffee to go and a cinnamon roll at Sankt Peders Bakery, Copenhagen oldest bakery which was founded in 1652.

We continue our tour by visiting the church of our Lady. The Copenhagen Cathedral in its present shape is an unpretentious building in Neo-Classicist style designed by the architect C.F. Hansen. It is situated close to the University of Copenhagen. An inside visit to the Round Tower in included. It was built as part of the Trinity Complex, named after the Holy Trinity and designed to accommodate three things: the observatory at the top of the tower, the library on the floor above the Trinity Church and of course the church itself. From its vantage point you will be able to peak into some of Copenhagen’s old, historical and cozy court yards before we head over to the Kings Garden, a popular green spot in the city center.

Copenhagen Jewish tour – 4 Hours

Although never large in numbers, the Jews in Denmark have nevertheless had a substantial and important influence on Danish culture and history. The sights on your tour includes The Round Tower with its golden Hebrew inscriptions; the statue of the world famous Danish Jewish Nobel Prize winner, Niels Bohr; and the Trinitatis church where the Torah scrolls from the Copenhagen Synagogue were hidden during the Second World War and were thus saved from destruction.
You will be informed of the present-day Jewish community, its size and the various components that went into its making. The story of the five dark years under Nazi occupation, the deeds of the Danes and their king, Christian X will not be forgotten.
The Danish Jewish Museum, designed by world famous architect Daniel Libeskind, opened in 2004 and is a must-see for anyone interested in the Jews of Denmark. Located in the center of Copenhagen, the museum is a great starting point for exploring Jewish history in Denmark. The museum presents 400 years of Danish Jewish history, including the rescue and deportation of the Danish Jews in 1943. Christianshavn & Dragør tour – 4 Hours

Narrow cobbled streets, Michelin-starred restaurants and cozy cafes along the canal. Just across the bridge Knippels Bro is Christianshavn, officially part of Copenhagen city center. Christianshavn is a much-desired area for Copenhageners to live in. And it is easy to see why. It is central, full of bars and restaurants and has a unique maritime atmosphere.
Dragør was founded in the 12th century, and it grew quickly as a fishing port. During the medieval period it was an international marketplace for Hanseatic merchants who came each year to buy herring. In the early sixteenth century, King Christian II invited a group of farmers from the Netherlands - at the time, a more agriculturally advanced nation than Denmark - to settle here to produce food for the royal household. You still find many Dutch names on the doors in Dragør. The town center is very idyllic with its characteristic yellow painted houses, thatched straw roofs and cobblestone streets, plus a charming harbor that is still an active fishing port.
Christiansborg Palace is located on the tiny island of Slotsholmen and houses Denmark's Parliament. It is the Prime Minister's residence and where the Queen of Denmark receives visiting royalty and heads of state in its royal reception rooms. In the Marble Hall, see the incredible, colorful tapestries displaying Danish and world history over the past 1,000 year.

This tour will take you on a journey of relaxation in a candlelit historical building. AIRE Spa is inspired by the tradition of baths from ancient Roman, Greek and Ottoman civilizations. Here you will go at your own pace through different baths at different temperatures. Including 30 min massage.

You continue the excursion at the Cisternerne, an old water reservoir built in 1856-1859. The cisterns are located on Frederiksberg Hill, 31 meters above sea level, the highest point of the very flat Danish capital. The natural pressure, when the water was let out, allowed the water to travel all the way up into the new Copenhagen town houses contributing considerably to the improvement of the water supplied to locals.

In 1933 the cisterns stopped functioning as a water reservoir and for many decades these subterranean chambers were forgotten until 2013 when the building became a part of The Frederiksberg Museums.  Today, the old subterranean water reservoir of Soendermarken is home of events and art exhibitions that awaken all senses. The huge dripstone cave is sparsely lit, the climate is moist and cool, and a magical art experience is guaranteed.

Copenhagen Meet the Big Friendly Giants – 6 Hours

Joining in this adventure while visiting Copenhagen will offer the opportunity to explore and immerse in nature, as you look out for the 6 legendary gentle Giants created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo in his proposal to bring art out of the museum, showing the beautiful and often overlooked nature spots, and at the same time giving an exciting and different experience.
All six sculptures are made from scrap wood with the help of local volunteers and is the first chapter of Thomas Dambo’s ongoing story: “The great story of the little people and the giant trolls”.
The tour is tailored to your interest and pace and will guide you through western municipalities of Copenhagen: Rødovre, Hvidovre, Vallensbæk, Ishøj, Albertslund and Høje Taastrup, where the Six Giants are located. This is a truly memorable off the beaten track adventure suitable for families and people of all ages.

Gothenburg Discovering Gothenburg Archipelago – 5 Hours

With over 20 islands, the archipelago of Gothenburg is full of seaside gems. The islands stretch along the coast like a string of pearls, offering locals and tourists stunning nature, beaches and charming villages.

In this tour we will visit the islands located in the northern part of the archipelago. That part of the archipelago consists of ten islands, and we will visit some of them.

We start the tour with a 25 minutes drive to Lilla Varholmen terminal where, together with our driver and guide, you will take a 12 minutes ferry trip towards Hönö. Once on board you will see the islands of Kalvsund and Grötö on different sides. Kalvsund reveals the tales of the fishermen and smuggler “Ernst Bremer”.  We will cross bridges and explore Öckerö Island, with its medieval church and homestead museum, and discover the islands of Hälsö, Hönö and Hönö Klåva.

Hönö Klåva's fishing history goes far back in time. Nowadays, fishing is still an important activity in the harbor, but many of the premises used for fishing have been transformed into cozy shops, restaurants and hotels.  We will go on a walking tour at Hönö Klåva to experience the atmosphere of this lovely island before
continuing to the island Fotö, our last stop before taking the ferry back to the terminal.

Do not forget to bring appropriate shoes! You will also have the chance to take a quick dip in the salty sea and refresh like a local, so bring a towel and swimsuit as well!

Meet your expert local driver/guide for the drive to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.

Just north of Lahinch on the coast of West Clare is the famous Cliffs of Moher, defiantly standing as giant natural ramparts against the aggressive might of the Atlantic Ocean. They rise in places to over 700 feet and stretch for almost 5 miles. O’Brien’s Tower, which was constructed in the early 19th Century as a viewing point for Victorian tourists, is located on Moher’s highest cliff. From its exceptional vantage position, you can view the Clare coastline, the Aran Islands and mountains as far apart as Kerry and Connemara.

Enjoy lunch in local restaurant (not included).

Continue journey to The Burren which is a karstic plateau - a stony chaos to the casual observer - with a full assemblage of the curious landforms that characterise such limestone landscapes. The region encompasses 360 km2 of gently inclined plateau with a further 200 km2 of lowland to the east of the plateau. Often described as a natural landscape, the Burren has been profoundly influenced by human activities. Early removal of the natural woodland induced soil erosion, enlarging the exposure of the underlying limestone. More than 700 different flowering plants and ferns have been recorded in the Burren. Thus, although the Burren represents only 1% of the land-mass of Ireland, 75% of the Irish native species are contained in the area. In the Burren, plants from northern (“Arctic”) regions reach their southern limits, those from southern (“subtropical”) regions attain their northern limits, while plants from high mountains (“alpines”) can be found growing at sea-level; all three groups grow side by side - and in profusion - in the Burren.

Inishmore, Aran Islands - 8 hours Full Day

On the very edge of Europe, is an Island rich in the language, culture and heritage of Ireland, unique in its geology and archaeology and in its long tradition of gentle hospitality. Here is a place to sense the spirit of Gaelic Ireland, to touch the past, but with all the comforts and facilities of the present. Aran will take you back to an Ireland of Celts and Early Christians. This is an island of great peace and tranquility, but it is also an island of great fun and activity. A timeless land in an endless sea, weathered monuments on awesome cliffs, great labyrinths of limestone, meandering walls, patchwork fields, quiet beaches and a welcoming island people.

This morning we will depart from Galway and take a ferry to Inishmore, the largest of the three islands, the other islands being  Inishmaan and Inisheer. The Islands are located off the West Coast of Galway about 18km out from Rossaveal Harbour in Connemara. Inishmore is approx. 13km long, and contains 3,092 ha. with a native population of about 900. Kilronan the chief center and port.
Landing in Kilronan on Inishmore, you are met by your driver in a horse drawn buggy for a guided tour of the Island and visiting one of its more impressive stone forts called Dun Aonghasa. It is semi-circular structure, resting on the edge of a perpendicular cliff rising 100 meters out of the ocean. The fort consists of an inner court 50 meters across surrounded by a wall six meters high and five meters thick at the base.

Visit the Aran Islands Interpretative Centre which highlights the unique history, spirit and landscapes of the Aran Islands. The center details the geology, history and present lifestyle of the islands.  See how the legendary currachs, those open-topped, often tar-coated, boats that skim over the waves, are made. Also on display are details of the fish species off the islands and how the islanders have long used seaweed to create patches of soil that could be cultivated for crops, in between the dry stone walls that crisscross the islands and divide its tiny fields. The islands' other craft traditions, including weaving of the famous Aran sweaters, are also documented.

Duration: 8 hours

Included:
Enjoy a pub lunch on Inishmore

Departing the island by ferry you return to Galway City.
Note: it is also possible to fly to Inishmore.
