Madeira has a great natural beauty with tropical gardens and spectacular panoramic views. Its green mountains, cliffs, steep valleys, flowers, sun and its blue sea, happiness and hospitality melt together to create an island of sublime peace.

Meet and greet your expert chauffeur at the dock. Today, venture on a 4-wheel scenic drive with panoramic views, interesting places and sensational encounters with Madeira's natural heritage.
Your tour will continue through deep ravines, winding roads, cultivated fields falling into the sea and an abundance of Mediterranean and tropical plants are typical features of southern Madeira. The charming fishing village of Câmara de Lobos, a favorite spot of Winston Churchill is one of the few places on the island which has remained untouched by the passing of time.

Câmara de Lobos is an emblematic town, it is
one of the most ancient and historical places in the Island. This was one of first colonized places in Madeira, due to the easy accesses by sea with its charming bay, where nowadays several and varied colorful embarkations are docked.

Pass by Fajã das Galinhas on your way to Boca da Corrida viewpoint. Located at an elevation of about 1,000 meters, it offers a magnificent view over the Curral das Freiras valley, Eira do Serrado and the central massif. Not far from Funchal hidden in between high mountains and deep valleys lie remote villages and hamlets such as Jardim da Serra with its splendid view over the Nuns valley.

Next stop will be Campanário, a verdant town with a splendid view over the sea. This town owes its name to an islet, similar to the bell tower of a church, which is situated along the coast.

Stop for lunch (not included) in a regional restaurant.

After lunch, your adventure will continue further west towards Cape Girão, an almost vertical promontory that rises 580 meters above the ocean, being the largest promontory in Europe and the second largest in the world.

Take a final stop at the Quinta Grande, to admire the vineyards of Madeira Wine.

Your driver will take you back to the dock.

Includes: Transportation - Full-Day Private Jeep Tour, with English Speaking Fluent Driver (8 Hours).

Coimbra & Óbidos Medieval Village (6 - 8 Hours)

Imagem relacionadaMeet your private chauffeur at the dock and hit the road direction to Coimbra, one of Portugal's oldest cities and home to one of the world's first universities.

It was the capital of the country from 1139 to 1256 and its university was founded in 1290. Today this impressive university is still one of the world's most illustrious and the city's biggest attraction. Surrounding it in the old town are fine old churches and narrow streets standing on a hill overlooking the Modego River.

Enjoy a private visit to the Old University. Enter through the "Porta Férrea", dating from the 17th century, and continue towards a courtyard known as "Pátio das Escolas". On the north side lies the buildings of the Old University, the east observatory, and the west the small university church.

Most impressive of all is the baroque style library, Biblioteca Joanina, one of the world’s most resplendent. It was built in the early 18th century with rooms rich in gilt and exotic wood, and lined with 300,000 books. Enjoy a walking tour through the old part of the city, with a visit to the two cathedrals - the Old Cathedral (“Sé Velha") and the New Cathedral (“Sé Nova").

Lunch (not included) will be served in a restaurant that offers an informal atmosphere and sharing concept. Indulge in a "Market Kitchen", which uses the region's traditional products to create unique recipes, renewed four times a year, to the rhythm of the seasons.

After lunch, the journey continues direction towards the magnificent medieval city of Óbidos, Portugal’s most romantic medieval town.

The entire city of Óbidos was declared a National Monument. It is known as the "Weeding Gift" because it was a gift that D. Dinis gave to Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day in 1282. However, it is not only this fact that makes it such an extraordinarily romantic place - which makes it one of the most romantic medieval towns in Europe are its incredibly picturesque cobbled streets lined with colorful houses full of geraniums and bougainvillea, Gothic doors and windows, whitewashed churches, pots and glazed tiles all surrounded by the walls of a 12th century castle.

At the end of the day, your driver will take you to the dock in Lisbon.

Includes: Transportation - Full-Day at Disposal, as per itinerary, by Deluxe Vehicle with English Speaking Fluent Driver (6 - 8 Hours); Expert Guide – Half-Day at Disposal as per itinerary (3 - 4 horas); Entrance Fees at Joanina Library and Coimbra’s Cathedral (Optional).

Proceed to Alcobaça, and independent visit the Alcobaça Monastery, Europe's greatest Cistercian temple.  Founded in 1153 to commemorate a victory against the Moors, it was finally completed in 1223. It is now Portugal's largest church, and one of its outstanding architectural monuments. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and its excellent state of preservation makes it the finest example of Cistercian architecture in Europe.

Today, meet your private chauffeur at the dock and drive towards Tomar, a charming and historically outstanding town located in central Portugal. It is dominated by a 12th-century Templar castle containing one of the country most significant and impressive monuments, the Convent of Christ (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO).

Next stop will be Óbidos, Portugal's most romantic medieval village.

All of Óbidos has been declared a national monument. It is known as the "Wedding Present Town" because it was a gift King Dinis gave to Queen Isabel on their wedding day in 1282, but that alone is not what makes it such an extraordinarily romantic place - what make it one of Europe's most romantic medieval villages are its incredibly picturesque cobblestone streets lined with colorful houses filled with geraniums and bougainvillea, Gothic doorways and windows, whitewashed churches, flowerpots and dazzling tiles all encircled by the walls of a 12th century castle.

Lunch (not included) will be served at a charming restaurant embraced by the castle walls, offering a unique and charming atmosphere. Their cuisine is based on typical Portuguese gastronomy, receives a careful selection of worldwide influences, all combined in a creative and refined fashion.

Enjoy a walking tour inside the walls. This walled town, with its narrow streets spreading from the foot of the castle, still preserves all the atmosphere of a 16th century mediaeval town.

The Jewish quarter, an area was once inhabited by traders, artists and scientists, was in the centre of the town, close to the Rua Direita and the beautiful 16th century Renaissance church of Santa Maria, where it is possible to appreciate the paintings of Josefa d'Obidos, one of the most important 17th century Portuguese artists.

Since it was the property of the queens of Portugal, Obidos always enjoyed special protection from the royal court and at one time had a school of arts and sciences. The effects of all this culture are clearly evident in its artistic heritage, in particular the Manueline palace that was built inside the castle walls (now converted into the Obidos Pousada).

Boasting springtime temperatures during the winter and cool summers freshened by a breeze blowing in from the Atlantic, Costa de Lisboa, on the southwestern coast, offers a rich and impressively integrated diversity. The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of History.

Start your journey at Alfama, the Lisbon’s heart during Moorish times. The Moors have moved on, but the neighborhood retains an exotic atmosphere.  You might stop at the St Georges Castle-formerly a Moorish citadel and at Tiles Museum.

You'll find yourself wandering through colorful XVIII century squares downtown and getting lost in the medieval maze of the Alfama district overlooked by an ancient castle.

For lunch (not included) we suggest a lovely restaurant facing Tagus River where the fresh fish served is among the best quality offered in the markets of Lisbon.

Enjoy a panoramic tour to Belem area with Discovery Monument and the XVI century Belem Tower.

You will take into a private visit to the XVI century Jeronimos Monastery, the incomparable monastery that exemplifies the Manueline style, a highly decorative form of architecture that emerged during the reign of Manuel I (1495-1521).

End your day at a local pastry store dated back from early 19th century. Nowadays it serves an average 10,000 Pasteis de Belém (custard tarts) a day, a specialty made with a secret centuries-old recipe. Indulge in a special gourmet treat on one of their rooms covered with 17th-century tiles.

Today, with the assistance of your guide, visit the Sha'are Tikva (Gates of Hope) Synagogue. In 1871 the Jews of Lisbon were granted permission to build a synagogue, a dream not fully realized until the dedication of the Shaare Tikva in 1904. The synagogue served as the centre of Jewish life in Lisbon thereafter; it was a sanctuary for the thousands of Jewish refugees who passed through Portugal during World War II.

For lunch (not included) we suggest an informal and cheerful restaurant whit natural blend of the traditional and the modern. The cuisine, largely Portuguese inspired, is nevertheless influenced by travels abroad.

Passing the Rossio, the original headquarters of the Inquisition, reach the Largo da Graça, from where you can admire the magnificent city view, the Tagus River, and the “Seven Hills” of Lisbon. Continue to Porta do Sol, descending on foot through Alfama, Lisbon's oldest area.

The city's legendary seven hills will also seduce you into admiring characteristic mosaic pavements and dazzling tiled façades, and will reward you with strategically-placed viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas over the city after a ride on a charming old tram.

Explore the Alfama district, the Lisbon heart during Moorish times. The Moors have moved on, but the neighborhood retains an exotic atmosphere. Visit to the St. Georges Castle formerly a Moorish citadel. The castle boasts panoramic views of the city.

You'll find yourself wandering through colorful XVIII century squares downtown and getting lost in the medieval maze of the Alfama district overlooked by an ancient castle. Jewish refugees from Spain settled here in the fifteenth century. The entrance to the neighborhood’s Jewish quarter, or Judiaría, was through the Arco de Rosario.

Just inside the arch is a brick wall with a pair of decorative arched windows near the top - all that remains of what is believed to have been the quarter's synagogue. Up the winding stairway just inside the arch is the Rua da Judiaría, the central artery of the former Jewish quarter. The typical medieval houses have a narrow door that was the family entrance and a wider one that often housed the place of business, such as a shop or workshop.

This town situated under the ruins of a Moorish castle actually dates back to Celtic times, but is mostly famous for its carpets that originated with the Moors and were later inspired by Persian and Indian designs during the Age of Discoveries. Many of them now cover the most famous houses and palaces in Portugal, and although they are sold all over the country, the biggest bargains are found in many of the shops in Arraiolos.

At the end of the day, your driver will take you to the dock.

Ålesund Walking Tour – 3 Hours

Ålesund Walking Tour – 3 Hours

Ålesund differs from most other Norwegian cities with its large concentration of buildings in the Jugend style of architecture. The explanation for this is simple; the town burned to the ground during the Great Fire of 1904. Rebuilding the city took a full three years, aided by numerous local contributions and large donations from the German Kaiser Wilhelm II.
The city planners agreed on consistently using the contemporary style of architecture, Jugend style (also known as Art Nouveau). It is a style characterized by artistic playfulness, fetching inspiration from organic forms and shapes in nature.
This combination of fjords, mountains and a town centre built in so-called art nouveau-style are some of the factors that resulted in Ålesund pinching first place in a survey by the Norwegian daily newspaper Dagbladet. Larger cities like Bergen (second place) and Trondheim (fourth place) – perhaps more famous for their beauty – were not considered to be as scenic as Ålesund when the Norwegians themselves cast their votes.
Walking tour through the winding old city streets, you will learn about the town's historic past. The tour takes in the Art Nouveau houses in the town itself, taking a stroll in the magnificent central district that displays beautiful houses with numerous and elaborate towers, spears and ornaments.

We will pay a visit to KODE 3 Museum, which The Rasmus Meyers Collection and a great compilation of works by Edvard Munch, one of the most renowned Norwegian painters.
Among the highlights of the collection are paintings from the Golden Age of Norwegian art, as well as historical interiors from the Bergen area. The presentation includes highlights from the careers of other famous Norwegian artists such as J.C. Dahl, Harriet Backer, Erik Werenskiold and Gerhard Munthe.

We continue our tour by visiting Arven´s workshops. In 1868 Theodor Olsen brought international expertise when he established his own sterling silversmithery and store and quickly became a leader in Bergen’s arts and crafts community. Following his death in 1890, the silver smithery and store continued under the name of Theodore Olsen managed by the Aase family for many generations until 2016 when it became Arven AS. Today, Arven is a modern and innovative factory which is constantly developing new and exciting products through bold design work in cooperation with contemporary designers but preserving traditional techniques and classic design.
During your private visit you will be greeted by your host offering you a special welcome with a drink and a taste of delicious Norwegian local produce cheese and snacks, all served using their beautiful cheese slices and knives we create.
Your visit continues with a presentation about the story of silversmithing in Bergen, about Arven, our history, our products, and our way of working. Afterwards there will time for your questions and participation to “show and tell” how each visitor can make their own stamped pendant!
You are then guided to our workshop and witness where our silver cutlery and jewelries are crafted. There will be a little “ceremony” in the workshop where each visitor gets their own Arven medal.
